Scale Inhibitors

In oil and gas systems, the inorganic mineral components of produced waters often become supersaturated. When this occurs, the minerals will often precipitate out-of-solution and form deposits on the inner walls of flow lines, valves, treating equipment, and tanks. This deposit is commonly referred to as scale.

Oilfield scale generally consist of salts such as carbonates and sulfates of calcium, strontium and barium. Less frequently occurring scale deposits may include complex salts of iron such as sulfides, hydrous oxides and carbonates.

Scale inhibitors, phosphonate and phosphate ester type chemistries, as well as, inorganic and organic acids can solve scaling problems. They are highly water soluble. The inhibitors can be applied in batch (squeeze) or continuous injection applications.

Chemjet’s representatives can apply years of water treating expertise to help you analyze the water in your system for scaling tendencies and address potential solubility problems before they become precipitate in your system.
